IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lenora M
Harrington
June 22, 1923 – March 9, 2024
Lenora M. Harrington, age 100, of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024, at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Lenora was born in Rankin, Illinois, on June 22, 1923, to Danish immigrants Peter and Petra Christiansen. She was the youngest of twelve children.
Lenora was married for 41 years to Richard Harrington who preceded her in death in 1984. She worked in the accounting department of Bike Candy Company in Bloomington, Illinois, before their move to Wisconsin in 1950. In 1962, they arrived in Beaver Dam. Lenora generously volunteered her time for many years at Grace Presbyterian Church. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout cookie chair and a Meals on Wheels delivery person. In addition, she volunteered for 30 years at Beaver Dam Community Hospital in the gift shop, "Tree of Lights," and did significant fund raising. Lenora's favorite and most cherished things were her faith, church, family, friends, her Danish ancestry, a strong black cup of coffee, a good rummage sale, a funny joke, and especially a warm hug.
At age 100, she still enjoyed reading the daily newspaper, two cups of morning coffee, rooting for the Packers, and playing "balloon" volleyball. She loved celebrating her 100th birthday with all her family present last June. She capped it off with a brandy "old-fashioned."
Lenora is survived by three children: Cheri (David) Groth of Portland, Oregon; Rick Harrington of Suquamish, Washington; and Ann Benevolent of Lake Mary, Florida; her seven grandchildren are Brent Groth, Julia (Brent) Blattner, and Claire (Jack) Ford, all of Portland, Oregon; Taylor Harrington of Denver, Colorado; Stephanie (Chris) Hoffman of Rockwell, Texas; Alexandra (Luke) Gower of Lake Mary, Florida, and John Benevolent III of Lake Mary, Florida; and seven great-grandchildren, Aiden, Aria, and Averick Hoffman; Everett and Easton Gower; and Ella and Luke Blattner. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, eleven brothers and sisters, and her loving husband, Richard Harrington.
