LeRoy William Schmidt, also known as Lee, was called by God to his heavenly home on October 4, 2023, at the age of 80 in Waupun, WI.
Visitation for LeRoy will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, W3377 Main Street, Manchester on Monday, October 9, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Plagenz officiating.
He was born on January 22, 1943, to LeRoy F Schmidt and Alice D (Wink) Schmidt. He is survived by his wife Connie M (Graichen) Schmidt who he married on October 1, 1966. He is also survived by his brother Wayne and wife Christy Schmidt; his children Matthew and wife Sheila Schmidt, Michael and wife Loni Schmidt, Marcus Schmidt, and Melissa and husband Mark Hecht; his grandchildren Elise Schmidt and fiancé Josh Dahlke, Mason and wife Jennifer Schmidt, Zachary and wife Kenzie Hecht, Brooke and husband Collin Howie, Alyssa and husband Mackenzie Kitelinger, Amber Schmidt, Sabrina Schmidt, and Hunter Hecht; as well as his great grandchildren Evan and Owen Dahlke, Nash, Reagan and Easton Schmidt, Kinsley Kitelinger, Rylee Howie, and Harvey Hecht. Loved ones also include Rey Natera, Judy and Bruce Eckert, Karen Wrasse, Alec Plummer; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Alice Schmidt; mother- and father-in-law, Fredrick and Evelyn Graichen; brother-in-law James Wrasse; Koda Howie; and other relatives.
Lee graduated high school in 1961 from Nathan Hale High School and was drafted to the US Army in 1964. He was very honored to have served his county as a paratrooper in the esteemed 82nd Airborne Division until 1966. He worked at Briggs and Stratton in West Allis from when he graduated high school until he retired. After retirement he worked at Jung's Seed in Randolph. His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. He also very much enjoyed his apple orchard and making wine. However, his favorite pastime was to joke around, tease and spend time with his family.
