Click HERE to view Lester's Life Tribute Video.Lester "Les" R. G. Giese, age 85 of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.

Lester was born on June 22, 1923 in Brillion, Wisconsin to Robert and Ida (nee Maile) Giese. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a mechanic during World War II and the Korean War. On August 10, 1949 he married Elizabeth Bushkie in Beaver Dam and together they were blessed with three children. Lester and Elizabeth were founders of Giese Landscaping and Lawn and Garden Center, which they owned for over 50 years. Lester worked as a machinist at Metalfab in Beaver Dam for almost 40 years, but he always found time to enjoy his hobbies, which included fishing, hunting, landscaping, woodworking and traveling in his earlier years. Lester was a very devoted Catholic and was a longtime member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish. He was also a lifetime member of the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 and belonged to the Eagle's Club and the Beaver Dam Lake Fisherman's Club. His family was very dear to him and he will be sadly missed by them all.

Lester is survived by his children, Linda (Alan) Posthuma of Beaver Dam, Tom (Mary) Giese of McGregor, Iowa, and Dennis (fiancé Karen Tomko) Giese of Burnett; his grandchildren, Chris (Tara) Posthuma, Joel (fiancé Teresa Huck) Posthuma, Stacy (Adam) Lindert, Bob (fiancé Julie Cubbage) Giese, Laura (fiancé Kevin Schaub) Giese; his great-grandchildren, Brady Huck, Bryce Posthuma,Ethan and Kylee Lindert; and his brother-in-law, Erv (Bernice Petrusha) Hammer of Beaver Dam. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Lester is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Elizabeth in 2003; his brothers, George, Edward and Arvin Giese; his great-grandchildren, Jonah and Noah Lindert; and his brother and sister-in-laws, Clarence (Viola) Bushkie, Leona (Alvin) Neuman, Barbara (Leonard) Neuman, Dorothy (John) Padlock, and Virginia Hammer.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. Legion Post #146 members are invited for an honorary walk through at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Monday, April 27, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Tony Klink as Celebrant, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St. in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam with graveside military honors provided by John E. Miller American Legion Post #146. Luncheon will follow the burial at the funeral home.
