Linda K. Akers, age 48 of Beaver Dam, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 22, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer.

Linda was born on April 27, 1963 in Beaver Dam to Eugene and Ardis (nee Loeck) Gabathuler. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1981 and then served her country in the United States Army for almost 2 years, where she met her future husband, Matthew Akers. Linda and Matt were later united in marriage, and together they raised two children. She was a very selfless individual, always putting others ahead of herself. It was important to Linda to pass on good morals and ethics to her children. She worked as a Medical Technician at Oakwood Village in Madison and was very dedicated to her career. Linda enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening and shopping for her granddaughter, Ember.

Linda is survived by her husband, Matthew "Matt" Akers of Beaver Dam; her son, Nicholas (fiancée Krista Pazurek) Akers of Stevens Point; her daughter, Ashley Akers of Beaver Dam; her granddaughter, Ember Akers; her sister, Kathy (Jeff) Wolfgang of Beaver Dam; and her brothers, Philip (Karen) Gabathuler of Fond du Lac and John (Cindy) Gabathuler of Ohio. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and other relatives.

A Memorial Gathering for Linda will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam.
