She loved the life that she lived. Lisa was the second oldest of five children born to Gary and Marian Flagel. Her childhood was spent on the family dairy farm, doing chores and playing with her siblings.
She went to grades K-8 at Faith Lutheran, where her family has attended since the church was founded. Lisa graduated from Markesan High where she played volleyball, basketball, and softball. After high school, she worked several years at the Markesan Resident Home. Later, she would go on to attend Lakeshore College in Cleveland, WI, where she earned an associate's degree in criminal justice. From there Lisa would work security at Thedacare Hospital in Neenah, which brought her great joy. At Thedacare, she met several tremendous friends who she kept up with, even after they no longer worked together.
As she grew older her life was focused on her loves: her husband Matt Poch, family & friends, the Milwaukee Brewers, and her beloved St. Bernards. Matt and Lisa were married at Luther Memorial Church in Fond du Lac, WI. They deeply enjoyed grilling out at their home in Fond du Lac and annual trips to Door County, especially in September, their anniversary month. No one loved teasing her more than Matt, her best friend of over 20 years.
Lisa enjoyed spending time with her friends from all over the place. They would also make trips to Door County or have craft parties. She loved getting together with people who could make her laugh. Lisa also enjoyed spending a great deal of time talking to her family, either in person or frequently on the phone. She had a large soft spot for her sister Amy's kids, often treating them as if they were her own. Her entire family loved to give her a good "zonk" when they got the chance.
In the summertime, there were very few nights that she couldn't be found watching Brewer baseball. She especially loved cheering for her recent favorites, Ryan Braun, and then later Christian Yelich. One of the highlights of her last summer on earth was getting to sit as close to the field as possible at a Brewer home game. Though the team often broke her heart, you couldn't find a more optimistic fan around, always excited for next year.
Lastly, she loved her dogs. They were affectionately known as her babies. She spent a great deal of time with them, loving them and taking care of them. Lisa considered these pets to be some of her best friends.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church her entire life. Lisa Poch (Flagel) is preceded in death by her father, Gary Flagel, mother-in-law, Barb (Jim) Poch, and adored dog Rex. She is survived by her husband Matt Poch, mother, Marian (Randy) Strelow, father-in-law Jim Poch, sisters Amy (Mitch) Newton and Laurie Flagel, brothers David Flagel and Doug Flagel, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Becky and Jeff Denboer, Keith and Nina Poch, nieces Jordan Poch and Sierra Poch, Mckenna (Alex) Glover and Madelyn Newton, nephews Jacob Denboer, Hunter (Leah) Newton and Carter Newton, great nephew Garrett Glover, and several other extended family members.
