I was born on February 22, 1949 at St. Therese's Hospital in Waukegan, IL to James and Ethel (Tennermann) Herman. I graduated in 1967 from Antioch High School in Antioch, IL, after which I earned a degree in business from UW La Crosse in 1971. While attending UW La Crosse, I met the love of my life, Jerry Friday. We were united in marriage on June 26, 1971 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Antioch.
In the fall of 1971, we moved to New Mexico where I substitute taught at the Lauguna Acomita High School. In 1972 we moved to Bristol, WI and in 1973 we moved to Manchester, WI, where Jerry and I helped on the Friday family farm. During this time, I also worked at Del Monte Canning Factory in Markesan. Because I discovered a love of teaching, I continued my education at UW Oshkosh where I received my Master's Degree. I began teaching in 1983 at the Markesan School District until my retirement in 2010. After retirement, I took classes to become a CNA and spent 3 rewarding years serving the residents of the Markesan Resident's Home.
I was very active in the Green Lake County Pork Producers, the Manchester Activities Center, and volunteered for the annual beef show at the Green Lake County Fair. I have enjoyed many things throughout my life including bowling, playing cards, helping on the family farm, especially during calving season, and traveling. My favorite destination was my parents' cottage on Sunset Lake in Upper Michigan.
I am survived by my husband, Jerry, son, Jeff (LeAnn) Friday, daughter, Erin Friday (Brad Jesko), and grandsons, Cody and Bryce Friday, all from Markesan; sisters, Joyce (Mark) Peavey and Linda (Danny) Yates, all from Waukegan, IL; brother, Chuck Herman, Antioch, IL; sisters-in-law, Bonita (Doug) Drager, Markesan and Norma Friday, Portland, OR. I am further survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
I am preceded in death by my parents, James and Ethel Herman, and parents-in-law, Harry and Leona Friday.
I ask that in lieu of flowers and gifts, donations may be made to Hospice Hope, 239 Trowbridge Dr., Fond du Lac, WI 54937.
Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan is honored to be serving the family.
