Lois I. Zumm, age 95 of Fox Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Lois Ione Gill was born on May 16, 1924 in Andover, South Dakota to Leo and Gertrude Gill, the eldest of six children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Fox Lake. Lois grew up on a farm and graduated from Bristol High School in South Dakota in 1942 before taking a short course at Northern State Teachers College. She then taught in a rural one room country school. Lois met and married Rueben Zumm in 1945, eventually moving to Fox Lake where they raised four children: Barb, Mickey, Wesley, and Lori. After 45 years working for Green Giant, Lois retired and went on to work in the Historical Room of the Fox Lake Public Library. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and reading.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Barb Klossner, Marilyn (friend, Bob Braskamp) Rahn, Wesley Zumm, Lori (friend, Mike Welch) Zumm; two grandchildren, Stacey (Bart) Mann and Mark (Kelli) Klossner; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Hunter Mann, Jessie Rahn, Harrison and Bennett Klossner, and Ed Bart Gonzales; sister, Cleo Esche; and further survived by other relatives and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters; 1 brother; son-in-law, David Klossner; grandson Bradley Rahn; and other relatives.
In honoring her wishes, private family services will be held.
