Obituary

Loraine A. Lohrey (nee Prochnow), age 92 of Markesan, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024 after a brief stay at the Markesan Assisted Living with her family by her side.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family at St. John's Lutheran Church at 65 W. Catherine St. in Markesan, WI on Wednesday, June 26 with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jason Jobs officiating.  Burial will follow at the Markesan Cemetery.

Loraine was born on March 5, 1932, the daughter of Edward & Lillie (Graff) Prochnow. Loraine was a graduate of Markesan High School.

She married the love of her life, Lavern (Charlie) Lohrey on May 18 1952 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan, WI and were blessed to have 63 wonderful years together.

Loraine worked by Charlie's side on their dairy farm while raising their 4 children.  She also worked for Harry Stel doing taxes and later branched out on her own as Loraine A. Lohrey Tax Service.

After moving off the farm in 2016, she resided in Markesan and enjoyed her neighbors and friend Karen Manske.

Her love was to knit, which her family cherishes, and when she left the house, her needles went along. Over the years she enjoyed bowling, playing cards with their dear friends, games with family members, enjoyed reading a good book and was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Brewer & Packer games. She loved spending time with her family at gatherings and special milestone events.  She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran church and a member of the St. John's Ladies Aid.

Those Loraine leaves behind to cherish her memory are her 3 daughters, Luann (Jeff) Keel of Markesan, Lenita (James) Hein of Dalton & Lisa (Mark) Broder of Markesan, 1 son-in-law, Dennis Triemstra of Markesan and sister-in-law, Sally Lohrey of Markesan.

Further survived by her beloved 10 grandchildren:  Jodi (Todd) Thiem, Jason Keel, Kelly (Angie Carmody) Triemstra, Mark (friend Cristie Hess, sons Parker & Carter Hess ) Triemstra, Bill (Stacey) Hein, Kirsten (friend Dan Budziszewski) Hein, Emily (friend Andy Bethke) Hein, Jared (Tiffany) Broder, Nathan (fiancé Sara Klinger) Broder and Jillian (Derek) Chitwood. 12 great grandchildren: Keegan & Austin Thiem, Jackson, Tyson, Reece & Hanna Keel, Henry, Jack, Luke & Noah Hein, Ava Broder, Lincoln & Cooper Chitwood, 2 step grandchildren: Megan (Chris) Clark and Hannah (Tom) Burkett: 2 step great great grandchildren: Fletcher & Buckley Clark.  Also, will be missed by many nieces and nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie, daughter Linda Triemstra, great grandson George Hein, her parents, in-laws Edwin & Esther (Hinz) Lohrey, 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Milan (Helene) Prochnow, Lorenz (Neoma) Prochnow, Milton (Marion) Prochnow and brother-in-law, DuWayne Lohrey and other nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer their many heartfelt thanks to the compassionate care that was received by the SSM Hospice staff and the care from the Markesan Assisted Living staff.
