Loren Shaw, age 95, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Ripon Senior Living. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the Moments Hospice staff and the wonderful caregivers at Ripon Senior Living.
Loren was born March 7, 1930, in Steward, Illinois, the son of Herbert and Gertie (Lathrop) Shaw. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Agriculture, a member of the Army ROTC. After graduation, the Army stationed Loren in Alaska. Upon return, he met his wife Joyce (Wilhelm) in Mendota, Illinois. After living in Rockford, Illinois and Arlington, Wisconsin, Loren settled into his role as Field Supervisor at Del Monte in Markesan where they resided for 61 of their 69 years together before moving to Ripon.
Loren is survived by his wife Joyce, his three children, Craig (Debi) Shaw, Janet (Ahmed) Shaw, and Mark (Alice) Shaw; his sister Delores Johnson; 13 grandchildren, Michael, Caylie, Danielle, Patrick, Joseph, Zachary, Abigail, Megan, Katie, Tarek, Reem, Jordan, and Justin; and 8 great-grandchildren Noah, Adi, Masin, Jacob, Yousef, Ahmed/Hamoudi, Jenna, and Saif. Loren is preceded in death by his siblings; Lucille Schmidt, Larry, Melvin, and Arthur.
Loren was very active in the community. He was one of the founders of the Southern Green Lake County Ambulance Service volunteering as an EMT for many years. He dedicated 50 years to the Kiwanis club, working the brat fry and the County Fair concessions stands, reading to grade school kids and more. Loren was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Loren was known for his deep faith in God. A quiet leader, he lived his life reflecting the Christian faith treating others with kindness and respect. He and Joyce were long-time members of the United Methodist Church of Markesan, attending services, Bible studies, the men’s group, and always giving a hand at church fundraisers such as the chili supper.
Loren was a loving and caring father encouraging a solid education, teaching us to dream big, to make adventures across the globe, and achieve greatness. He taught us humility and grace in dealing with others. Quick with a joke, he always had a smile on his face.
Visitation for Loren will take place on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at United Methodist Church, 74 E. Catherine St., Markesan, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. B. Joseph Christopher officiating. Burial will take place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by the Abendroth-Connolly American Legion Post 282.
