Obituary

Lorraine Laybourn was born December 31, 1921 in the Town of Mackford, Green Lake County, the daughter of Frank and Edna Zuelsdorf Menke and died Sunday, July 15, 2018 with her family by her side.

Visitation for Lorraine will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Markesan United Methodist Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Kyochul Shin officiating. Burial will take place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by American Legion Post 282.

Lorraine was married to Roland Laybourn who preceded her in death in 1984.

She was a lifelong member of Markesan United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Markesan American Legion Post 282 and the American Legion Auxiliary. For many years, she was the Memorial Chairman for Green Lake County for The American Cancer Society, Hospice volunteer and a volunteer at Headstart.

Lorraine proudly served her country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Women's Army Corps (WAC) during World War II stationed in the United States and New Guinea and was a member of the WAC Veterans Association. She also had the privilege of participating in the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington DC.

Besides her husband, she was proceeded in death by an eight-month old son, Kevin, in 1956 and an 11 year-old daughter, Vickie, in 1978, two brothers, Russell and Harvey, a sister, Avis Beers, a daughter-in-law, Brenda Laybourn, a granddaughter, Cindy Laybourn and a grandson, Nick Crombie, PFC US Army.

She is survived by three daughters, Faye Laybourn, Waupaca; Mary (Jim) Schultz, Ripon; Sharon Laybourn, Ripon; four sons, Jerrold (Mira) Laybourn, Ripon; Dennis Laybourn, Winnemucca, NV; Dale (Pat) Laybourn, Fairwater; Gary (Sue) Laybourn, Markesan; 12 grandchildren, Heather, Tabitha, Christine, Karen, Laura, Brian, Danny, Jason, Wendy, Madel, Glyra, Glira; 15 great-grandchildren and a soon to be great-great grandchild.

Mom will be dearly missed by her family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the I.C.U. staff at Berlin Hospital, Juliette Manor in Berlin, Barrett House in Markesan, Hospice Hope and Pastor Shin for all their loving care and support shown to Lorraine.
