Obituary

Angels with gilded wings lifted Lucile C. (Czajka) Hoch, 93, to be with her Heavenly Father January 1, 2010. Lucile was a life-long resident of the Beaver Dam area, born November 17, 1916 on the family farm as the first child to Polish immigrants Joseph and Mary (Zmslony) Czajka. She attended the one room school house of Prairie Hill. During her mid 20's she worked to support the war effort while her husband-to-be Floyd J. Hoch served with the Coast Guard. They wrote letters with coded messages so Lucile would always know where he was. When her "Floydie boy" returned, they married at St. Michael's Catholic Church on the beautiful day of May 25, 1946 in a traditional three day Polish wedding. Shortly after, they settled on Lincoln Avenue where they raised their family. Lucile was an avid cook. Never was there a Christmas without a good stollen and home-made cutout cookies. She was dedicated to her church, Saint Katharine Drexel Parish, her family, and enjoyed volunteering for blood drives and participating in area retirement activities.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years Floyd, sons John (Lynnette) and Steve (Darcy), and the grandchildren she had unending love for: Cassandra, Francesca, Stephanie, Angela, and Colin. She is also survived by Godchildren Jimmy (Maxine) Ferron and Janice (David) Bilgri both of Beaver Dam,Christine Powell of Madison and Maria Weirichs of Appleton, siblings Mary Czajka, Edmund Czajka, John Czajka, Stella (Sally) Machkovech, and Wanda Ferron all of Beaver Dam, Harriet Weirichs, Appleton, sister in-law Evelyn Napralla and brother-in-law Harold (Carol Mae) Hoch, and other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, sister Josephine, and other relatives. Lucile will be forever missed by all.

The Hoch family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and support staff of the Beaver Dam hospital for the care and comfort Lucile received during her stay.

Visitation for Lucile will be on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until NOON at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St. in Beaver Dam. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at NOON at the church with Fr. John Schreiter as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam with a luncheon to follow at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam.
