Obituary

Lucille Laura Silgman, age 91 of Markesan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the Markesan Resident Home.

Lucille was born on October 22, 1923 in Fairwater to John F. and Laura (Sander) Schmuhl. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1941 and on May 3, 1947 she was united in marriage to Herbert W. Silgman at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater. She worked as a nursing assistant at the former Riverdale Manor in Markesan. Lucille enjoyed crocheting, knitting, doing puzzles and gardening. She was an excellent homemaker, a very hard worker and always showed kindness and patience, even in her older years. Her true passion was taking care of her family. Lucille was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Salemville, where she was a member of Ladies Aid, and also a member of the Kingston Legion Auxiliary.

Lucille is survived by her daughter, Nancy Lee (Dennis) Meier of Ripon; son, William "Bill" (Donna) Silgman of Markesan; 9 grandchildren, Tobi (Paul Romlow) Silgman of Madison, Erik Silgman of Madison, Amanda (Joe) Mertens of Markesan, Brett Wiersma of Seymour, Casey Wiersma of Markesan, Joshua (Renie) Meier of Hubertus, Kristopher Meier of Markesan, Kelli (Scott) Schueler of Markesan, Staci (Tim) Meitner of West Allis; 14 great-grandchildren and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert in 2012, 6 brothers, 3 sisters and a daughter-in-law Sally Silgman along with other relatives.

A Funeral Service for Lucille will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, N483 Cty. Rd M, Salemville with Rev. Frank Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Proscarian (Manchester #2) Cemetery in the Town of Manchester.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 5 -8 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St. in Markesan and also on Friday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00 a.m.
