Lucille "Lucy" May Jahns age 95, formerly of Markesan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg, IA.
Lucille was born on March 27, 1918 to Fredrick and Emma (nee May) Michels. After graduating from high school, she attended Normal School and began her teaching career. In 1940, she was united in marriage to Elmer Jahns, after which she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising their two daughters. Lucille was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater. She was very musically talented, and she played the piano and sang in the church choir.
Lucille is survived by her daughters, Melodie (Bob) Deutsch of Elkader, IA and Karen (Donald) Schweder of Reedsburg, WI; her grandchildren, Nicole (Jason) Tayck of McGregor, IA, Matthew (Cat) Caya of Charlotte, NC, Brian (Leah) Schweder of Appleton, WI and Michelle (Dennis) Gardner of Reedsburg, WI; her great-grandchildren, Kayla Watzlawick, David Watzlawick and Dylan Gardner of Reedsburg, Blake Schweder of Appleton and Tyler Tayck of McGregor, IA. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brothers, Lawrence, Leland and Lester.
A Funeral Service for Lucille will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Church St., Fairwater with Rev. Shari Routh officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service at church, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Fairwater Cemetery, Fond du Lac County.
