Obituary

Luella M. Page, age 85, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.

Luella was born in Columbia County on October 21, 1927 to Fredrick F. and Emily (nee Wieschoff) Helmer. She was united in marriage to Morris Page on May 7, 1948 at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. Luella was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church, where she also taught Sunday School. She worked as a Playground Supervisor at Jefferson School for over 30 years. Luella also helped out with the local Girl Scouts.

Luella enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, embroidery, and crocheting. She also loved to play Bingo and Euchre. Luella treasured spending time with everyone she knew and loved. If she knew you, you were important to her…her kindness was unrivaled.

Luella is survived by her children, Linda Page, Patricia (Duane) Zabel, Barbara (Armand) Franke, Lynn VanderWerff, Susan Biel, all of Beaver Dam, and Penni (Peter) Asmann of Mukwonago; grandchildren, Kristina (Dave) Pufahl, Sarah (Mike) Manders, David Zabel, Lindsay (John) Rueter, Joseph Biel, Benjamin VanderWerff, Brent VanderWerff, Vincent Asmann, and Brett Asmann; great-grandchild, Aubry Anne Pufahl; great-grandbaby, Manders; siblings, Kenneth (Janice) Helmer, Shirley Pritchard, Mary Budde, Ronald (Sherry) Helmer, Elroy (Audrey) Helmer, and Delores Garrett; and sister-in-law and best friend of 70 years, Marie Winter. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Morris in 2008, siblings, Arthur (Luwane) Helmer, Merlin (Mary) Helmer, 2 brothers-in-law, Donald Pritchard and Jerome Budde.

A Funeral Service for Luella will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 311 W. Mackie St., in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Dr. Mark Molldrem officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., in Beaver Dam, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., and also prior to the service on Friday at church, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Village of Doylestown.

Memorials in Luella's name may be directed to Hillside Hospice, 707 S. University Ave., Beaver Dam 53916. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hillside Hospice, especially Angie, for their loving care of Luella.
