Lynn E. Kobow, age 79 of Ripon, WI, passed away on June 13, 2022, at Markesan Resident Home.
A memorial gathering for Lynn will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 855 Martin Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI 54935. A memorial service for Lynn will follow at the church at 11:00 a.m.
Lynn was born August 25, 1942, in Fond du Lac, WI, the son of Arnold and Elda Kobow. He grew up in rural Fox Lake in the Town of Trenton and graduated from Fox Lake High School in 1960. He was united in marriage with Marion Mildebrandt of Marquette, WI on June 4, 1967 at Zion Lutheran Church, Kingston.
Upon high school graduation, Lynn attended college at River Falls, WI and then served in the Air Force, 1961-1965 where he served as a Linguist. He joined Speed Queen under an apprenticeship program in November, 1965, working in the Engineering Department and retiring in 2006. He continued working in retirement at the Green Lake Conference Center, a/k/a American Baptist Assembly in the Maintenance Department until October 31, 2014. Lynn was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac and served in various capacities in the church over the years. He enjoyed traveling with Marion in the U.S. and abroad. He appreciated solitude and liked reading, jigsaw and other types of puzzles, and bird-watching.
Survivors include his wife, Marion, three sons, Brian (Orie Maas) Kobow of Watertown, WI, Douglas Kobow of Ripon, WI, Jeffrey (Vonda) Kobow of Arlington, TX; two grandchildren, Victoria Kobow and Jeffrey Kobow, Jr., both of Arlington, TX; a fourth son, James Kobow of a previous marriage. Lynn is further survived by sister-in-law, Lona (Steve) Thurk of Markesan, WI, niece, Heather (Chris) Rice and great-niece, Charlotte Rice of Chelmsford, MA, and nephew, Brandon Thurk of Fond du Lac, WI.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Elda Kobow and sister, Myrna Kobow.
