M. Ilene Roedl, age 80, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 4, 2009 at Columbia St. Mary's Hospice in Milwaukee.
Ilene was born on October 12, 1928 to Bert and Blanche (nee Corne) Harvey. On August 8, 1953 she was united in marriage to Carl H. Roedl at Trinity Church-United Methodist in Beaver Dam. Ilene worked as a hairdresser and cosmetologist in Beaver Dam until her marriage in 1953. She had many interests which included political bantering with her family, reading, "putzing" around in the garden, china painting, arts and crafts, bird watching and decoupage. Ilene was very community orientated and was active with the National Rifle Association, Girl Scouts, Eastern Star, Women's Club of America, Beaver Dam Homemakers, Fine Arts Group of Beaver Dam, Old Hickory Country Club and several bridge clubs. She was also an active member of Trinity Church-United Methodist in Beaver Dam where she participated in Women's Circle and the choir.
Ilene is survived by her children, Beth (Scott) Shully, Michelle (Vern) Hunt and Amy (James Jr.) Dodge, her grandchildren, Nina, Jake and Hadley Shully, Gunnar, Rolf and Olivia Hunt and Max Dodge, her extended family David Roedl of Beaver Dam and Douglas "Jim" (Dorothy) Roedl of Beaver Dam and their children, Mark (Jeanne) Roedl, Susan (Tony) Tomashek, Kay (Tim) Schwister and Mary ("J.P.") Boustany and their children. She is further survived by a brother, Melvin (Cathy) Harvey, one sister, Darlene (Kurt) Weber, three sister-in-laws, Dorothy Harvey, Dolores (Edward) Roedl and Elaine Uttermark, a brother-in-law Glen (Dorothy) Knaup, her God-children Kim Holt and Kurt Weber Jr., many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and special Roedl and Harvey family members.
Ilene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl H. Roedl, a sister Olive Knaup and her brother, Noble Harvey.
A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Ilene will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Trinity Church-United Methodist, 308 Oneida St. in Beaver Dam at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark Swanson officiating. Visitation will also be held on Thursday May 7, 2009 from 9:30a.m.until the time of Service at the Church. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery and a funeral luncheon will follow at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Church-United Methodist in Beaver Dam or The Red Cross.
