Margaret L. Vessey, age 99, died peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Eagle's Wings in Beaver Dam.
Margaret was born on January 17, 1910 in rural Lodi to Charles and Mary (nee Scheie) Knuteson. She graduated from Lodi High School. After graduation, she attended Columbia County Normal. During the years living in Columbus, she met the love of her life, Elmer Vessey, and they were later united in marriage on September 3, 1936 in Columbus. Margaret also taught at several one-room schools, including those in Atwater and Poynette. Along with her husband, she later moved to Beaver Dam and has been a resident here ever since.

Margaret is survived by her son, Joel (Judy) Vessey of Beaver Dam; her grandchildren, Angie Vessey of Beaver Dam and her children (great grandchildren) Elijah, Oliver and Spencer; and Stephen (Nicole) Vessey of Beaver Dam and their children (great grandchildren) Braden and Theodore. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Alma Knuteson of Beaver Dam, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer in 1999, two brothers, and four sisters.

A Funeral Service for Margaret will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home, and burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.
