Obituary

Margie Emily Heinz, age 84 of Dalton, passed away at Markesan Resident Home on Sunday, October 30, 2022. She had just been sung a Hymn by her pastor and he was in the middle of a prayer when she peacefully passed away.

Visitation for Margie will take place on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church, N796 Linden St, Dalton, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John Hildebrandt officiating. Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery (Inglehart Cemetery). There will be a meal to follow at the Town of Kingston Senior Center in Dalton.

Margie was born on the family farm on September 11, 1938, to Walter and Alice (Klawiter) Stibb. She attended Rock Hill Elementary school and graduated from Cambria High School in 1956. Margie married Christian "Skip" Heinz, her high school sweetheart, on May 18th, 1958, at Zion Lutheran Church in Kingston. They were married for 48 years. Margie began working at Tillema's grocery store in Friesland and later at Siewert's grocery store in Kingston. She was a housewife for several years while raising their 4 daughters on the home farm, where Skip had grown up, just north of Dalton. Margie also drove the Amish on long hauls to several neighboring states and saw the country in the process. She retired from AMPI as a cheese inspector after more than 20 years of service. She was a member of the ladies aid at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dalton and taught Sunday school for several years. Margie was an avid baker and even baked wedding cakes out of her own kitchen for a number of years.

When she was younger, Margie enjoyed dancing, but bowling was a lifelong passion of Margie's. She was in multiple weekly leagues and traveled several times to Las Vegas to compete in tournaments. Margie enjoyed gardening, canning, playing cards, collecting snowmen and cookie jars, and listening to classic country music. She loved her hugs from Jamie Bryan and their regular Friday fish fry dinner dates. Margie adored her grandchildren and especially looked forward to bi-weekly movie night sleepovers at Markesan Resident Home with Justin and occasionally, Jase and Maddox would join in on the fun. Her favorite movies were The Sound of Music and Gone With the Wind.

Margie is survived by her daughters, Gena (Tim) Brown, Kris (Joel) Strahota, Cindy (Mike) Wiebe, Heidi (Jamie Bryan) Heinz; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Stibb and Sandra Hurst; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters; 1 brother; father of her children, Christian "Skip" Heinz; and other relatives.

The family would like to thank Markesan Resident Home, specifically the ladies of North Terrace for their devotion and dedication, and SSM Health Hospice, especially, Janine and JoEllen, for their loving and compassionate care of Margie.

Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan is honored to be serving the family.
