Marie Hopp, 92, a resident of The Christian Home & Rehabilitation Center in Waupun, died at The Christian Home on Sunday, February 3, 2013.
Marie was born August 29, 1920 in the town of Waupun the daughter of William and Minnie Peters Smits. On September 14, 1939 she married Clarence Hopp in Alto. The couple resided in the Waupun area all their married lives. Marie was a homemaker who loved to cook and take care of her five children. She was a life-long member of First Reformed Church in Waupun.
Marie is survived by her five children, Marilyn (James) Haverkate of Mauldin, SC, Harlan (Judy) Hopp of Oakfield, Carolyn Hopp of Eau Claire, Milford (Pat) Hopp of Waupun, and Diane Hopp of Madison; seven grandchildren, Dawn (Bert) Ens-Haverkate, Allison (Ron) Plumb, Jamie (Denise) Haverkate, Pam (Dan) Deich, Kurt (Barb) Hopp, Amy (Ralph) Malo, and Melissa (Morey) Benson; eleven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Dustin and Dakota Deich, Aaron, Andrew, Lindsey and Carson Hopp, Noah Malo, and Casey, Anthony and Shawn Haverkate.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; a sister, Alice and her husband James Riel; a brother, Wilbert and his wife Willie Smits; twin sisters at birth; and Mark Benedict.
The family wishes to thank the Christian Home and Agnesian Hospice Hope for their wonderful care.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives of Marie Hopp may call on the family on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Marie Hopp will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Bob James officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
