Marilyn M. Johns, age 80 of Markesan, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Markesan Resident Home.
Visitation for Marilyn will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church, N1529 Hwy 73, Markesan from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Mark Bernthal will officiate. Burial will take place at Mackford Union Cemetery.
Marilyn was born on April 15, 1936 in Fox Lake, the daughter of Lester and Mildred (Mielke) Miller. She graduated from Waupun High School. She was married to Louis Salzwedel. She was later united in marriage to Carl Johns. Marilyn was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Markesan and a leader for Grand River Workers 4-H. She made numerous wedding cakes over the years and enjoyed gardening, doing arts and crafts and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her three children, Mark (Cindy) Salzwedel of Oshkosh, Beth (Randall) Funk of Detroit Lakes, MN and Paul Salzwedel of Markesan; her grandchildren, Quentin Salzwedel, Travis Funk, Jonah Funk, Isaac Funk, Emily Funk, Mindy Schmick and Alex Timm; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Bob, Gladys, Donnie and Dorie; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Johns; her brother, Vernon; her sister, Arlene and other relatives.
