Obituary

Marlene M. Christian, age 88, of Beaver Dam, died Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Homestead Memory Care in Waupun, WI.

Visitation for Marlene will take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 304 Prairie St., Reeseville from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Reeseville Cemetery.

The former Marlene Christian was born on December 28, 1936, in Randolph, WI, to the late John and Goldie (Sommerfield) Neuman. She grew up on a farm in Lost Lake, WI, and graduated from Randolph High School. On August 16, 1958, she married Wallace F. Christian in Lost Lake, WI and together they had four children. Marlene and Wally made Reeseville, WI, their home for over 60 years, until they moved to Beaver Dam, WI, In 2021.

Marlene was initially a stay-at-home mom until she went to work at the Reeseville State Bank, where she worked for over 40 years before retiring. Marlene had been an active member of Holy Family Church in Reeseville where you could see her actively attending alter society meetings, ironing linens, ordering flowers, cleaning and much more.

For years, Marlene loved to go to the family farm to have Sunday dinner with the family. Marlene was known for her genuine and kind disposition and was loved by all of her customers at the bank. Before her illness, she loved to garden and play bridge with her friends and spent many hours at church. She was a devote Catholic and found solace in praying the rosary every evening.

She showed her affection through her baked goods and was known to show up almost anywhere with a tin of homemade chocolate chip cookies or her famous Special-K bars. She was a great cook and loved hosting the family and being around the grandchildren. She had an infectious laugh and always looked for the good in people.

Survivors include her husband, Wallace; four children, Peggy Curtis of Castle Rock, CO; Mike (Tami) Christian of Fond du Lac, WI; Mark Christian of Lake Mills, WI; Matt (Vicki) Christian of Beaver Dam, WI. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Jason (Kellie) Christian, Nick (Suzanne) Christian, Justin (Holly) Christian, Erin (Scott) Norman, Caitlin (Bryan Sowers) Curtis, Luke (Heidi) Curtis, Eric (Cora) Curtis, Abby (Dustin) Christian-Crouch, Jon (Becca) Christian, Amber (Tyler) Wanie, and Ryan (Lexie) Christian and 16 great-grandchildren; Harvey and Hudson Curtis, Layla Curtis, Carter Sowers, Ava and Evelyn Curtis, Marshall and Garrett Norman, Hailey and Daniel Christian, Ethan and Madisyn Christian, Beau Christian, Miles Christian, Edison and Kate Crouch. She is also survived by her sister, Clara Kennedy and her special niece, Judy Robbins; sisters-in-law, Diane (John) Potenberg and Karen Dykstra; brothers-in-law, Rueben (Delores) Christian, Kenneth (Lola) Christian, Dennis (Patty) Christian and other friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, Reuben and Edna Christian; her brothers, Curtis Neumann and his wife Edna, Arden Neumann and his wife Eva Mae, Madeline Schultz and her husband, Robert; seven of her sisters-in-law; Jane, Doris, Elaine, Lorraine, Glenda, Arlene, and Edna, a brother-in-law, James and son-in-law Dan Curtis.
