Obituary

Marlene Hansen, age 73 of Markesan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.

Marlene was born on November 27, 1939 on the family farm to Daniel and Angela (nee. Yokiel) Chirpich in Dunbar Township of Faribault County, MN. On May 4, 1963 she would marry the love of her life, Morris Hansen at St. Casimir's Catholic Church in Wells, MN. They would go on to have 3 beautiful children.

Marlene will be remembered for her generous soul and spirit to match. She was an active member of Holy Family Parish and was co-director of the Markesan Food Pantry. She loved life and enjoyed many hobbies, among them were card clubs and golfing with Morris and friends. Marlene found great pleasure in gardening with her husband and she enjoyed frequent visits to the farm. But her greatest love of all was spending time with her grandchildren.

Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Morris of Markesan; children, Michael (Judith) Hansen of Markesan, Lee (Missy) Hansen of Waukesha, Anne Hansen (Roger Wolkoff) of Madison; grandchildren, Daniella, Christopher, Jack, Erik, Bethany and Nate. She is also survived by her mother, Angela Chirpich of Wells, MN; sisters, Janice (Larry) Crawford of Wells, MN, Marjorie (Loren) Hanisch of Mendota, IL, Therese (Gary) Murray of Rochester, MN, Susan (Steve) Nowaczewski) of Mendota Heights, MN; brother, Gene (Pat) Chirpich of Wells, MN and many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marlene will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish (formerly St. Joseph's Catholic Church), 45 St. Josephs St., Markesan with Fr. David Greenfield officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 3:00 -7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Service, 181 S. Main St., Markesan and also on Friday prior to the Mass at church, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. at the church on Friday. Burial will follow the service at Phelps Cemetery, Town of Green Lake, Green Lake County. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Markesan Food Pantry.
