Martha Boomsma, 85, a resident at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Waupun, died Saturday evening, September 15, 2012 at Prairie Ridge.



Martha was born July 25, 1927 in Wichert, IL the daughter of Simon and Katie Zeldenrust Koopmans. In 1944 she graduated from St. Anne High School in St. Anne, IL. On March 18, 1948 she married Milton Boomsma in Wichert, IL. Following their marriage the couple resided in St. Anne, IL where they farmed for 15 years. In 1963 they moved to the Brandon area where they farmed and owned and operated Milt’s Tractor Repair. Martha was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women’s Guild.

Martha is survived by a daughter, Eunice (Dave) Beekman of Brandon; two sons, Jerry (Linda) Boomsma of Oconto, WI and Melvin Boomsma of Waupun; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Katherine Runia of Bourbonnais, IL, Helen (Ed) DeVries of Momence, IL, and Janice (Dick) Alvey of Huntington, IN; four brothers, Simon (Delores) Koopmans of South Holland IL, Tom (Eleanor) Koopmans of La Harpe, IL, John (Velma) Koopmans of Belgrade, MT, and Melvin Koopmans of Plymouth, IN; special niece, Susan Boomsma; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, and two brothers, Clarence and Peter Koopmans.

The family wishes to thank Prairie Ridge and Generations Hospice for the wonderful care their mother received.


Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday from
4-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Services:
Funeral services for Martha Boomsma will be held Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon with Rev. John Tilstra officiating.

Burial:
Burial will follow at Brandon Cemetery.
