Martha Lawton, age 70 of Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at the UW Hospital in Madison.
Martha was born on July 4, 1937 in Mineral Point, WI to Percy and Helen (nee Hawke) Phillips. She worked as an LPN for Meriter Hospital in Madison for many years. Martha's true passion was music. She enjoyed competing in music competitions throughout the United States and was a member of the Country Gospel Music Association. She loved music and the Lord, and she also enjoyed doing missionary work overseas. Martha treasured spending time with her children, family, and many friends throughout the United States.
Martha is survived by her children: Gregory (Kathy) Lawton of Beaver Dam, Paul (Rebecca) Meyers of Janesville, Debra Lawton of Columbus, and Steven Lawton of Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and her sisters, Helen Hanlon of Wilmington, Delaware, Caroline Zelinka of Verona, and Beth (Bob) Boldt of Milton. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; her brothers LeRoy, Butch and George Phillips; her sister Cindy Schroeder; and her granddaughter Felicia Lynn.
A funeral service for Martha will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 1 o'clock p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Boulevard in Beaver Dam with Rev. Randy Carey officiating. Burial will follow at Okeeg Cemetery in the township of Elba. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11 o'clock a.m. until the time of service at 1 o'clock p.m.
