Martin "Butch" Salkowski III, age 65 of Waupun, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Butch was born on April 19, 1961, to Martin and Shirley (Ashenbrenner) Salkowski. He graduated from Waupun High School in 1980. After starting a family, he began a career as a plumber and retired from Hooper on April 1, 2026. He also dedicated 31 years to the Waupun Fire Department.
Butch enjoyed going to his grandkids and great grandkids hockey games and sporting events and loved riding his Harley whenever he could. He also enjoyed spending time at his cabin up North and having weekly dinners with his mother. He cherished time with his family and especially loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Always willing to help anyone out, he was ready to show up for family at a moment's notice. Butch was known for his sense of humor and often told his children, "I got bail money” followed by, "I have money I haven't even spent yet."
He is survived by his three children, Ranae (Adam Foster) Salkowski, Marty (Lissa Moore) Salkowski IV, and Krissy Salkowski; eight grandchildren, Jordan (Hannah) Foster, Alex (Coltyn) Wierenga, Taylor Foster, Leyton Foster, Piper Hartgerink, Landon Moore, Sage Freund, and Remi Neuy; eight great-grandchildren, Hudson, Kendall, Sadie, Blakelyn, Bentley, Bowyn, Bexleigh, and Avett; his mother, Shirley Salkowski; his sisters, Cindy (Kim Yancey) Salkowski and Marcia (Barry) Wood; and further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Salkowski Jr, his son, Craig Allen Salkowski; and other relatives.
Visitation for Butch will take place on Thursday, June 18th, 2026 at Werner Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. A celebration of life to follow at Prison City Pub in Waupun.
Those willing to express their sympathy may make a donation in memory of Butch to the Waupun Hockey Association.
