IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martin
Searing
April 20, 1958 – October 28, 2025
Martin Searing, 67, passed away peacefully with family and his dog by his side on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
Martin was born April 20, 1958, the son of James and Norma Leeman Searing. He grew up in the Paris, Illinois and Clinton, Indiana area, and graduated from Clinton High School in 1976. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and was disappointed that he didn't deploy for Desert Storm. He had a great love and passion for his country, once saying: "One of the reasons I signed up for the Marines is to fight and die for the country I love." In the Marines, Martin worked as an engineer equipment mechanic, working on many trucks, tanks, and other machinery. This experience gave him his strong work ethic and led him to his hobbies when he returned home. He loved to keep his hands busy and didn't mind getting dirty or greasy. Fishing was his main hobby; he loved taking his family and kids fishing, enjoying every moment with them. When he wasn't fishing, he was always fixing things. His dog, Chubs, was his faithful companion and considered his "8th child." Martin had a deep love for his family and always cherished the time he had with them.
Martin is survived by his children: Becca (Eric) Kruger, Amanda (Gerald) Sanders, Martin Searing II "Scooter," Daniel (Vickie) Searing, Donald (Grace) Searing, Amber Burroughs, and Brady Searing; grandchildren, Samantha (Dylan) Burk; Alissa (Chase) Kufahl; Travis (Kiara Hollister) Woody; Christopher, Gavin, and Noah Sanders; Tommie Searing; Destany and Alexis Bracken; Aaliyah Searing; Briella, Jada, and Kaylee Ellis; Donald Craig Searing Jr.; Cohen, and Riley Searing; Rose Searing; Amora and Ariyah Burroughs; Harper Christie; and Casey Galletta. He was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He is further survived by his siblings, Jimmy (Lorraine) Searing, Greg (Dee) Searing, Robin Roy, and Carla Searing, along with his beloved dog Chubs and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicky J. Searing; his parents; and his sister, Debbie Delp; and other relatives.
