Mary Ann Lerum, age 75, of Fox Lake, died peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2009 at Waupun Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Mary Ann was born on July 17, 1933 in the Town of Leeds in Columbia County to Theodore and Myrtle (nee Schultz) Hebel Sr. She attended Rio High School and graduated in 1951 as Salutatorian. She attended Milwaukee Accredited Beauty School and graduated in 1952. On October 23, 1954 she was united in marriage to Phillip R. Lerum in Poynette, WI. Mary Ann worked as a beautician for 38 years, most of which were spent at Central Beauty Shop in Columbus. She was a member of First United Congregational Church of Christ in Fox Lake where she served as past president of the congregation. She was also a member of the Legion and Fireman's Auxiliary in Fox Lake. Mary Ann had several hobbies which included bowling, snowmobiling, floral arranging, traveling, going on gambling trips, gardening and a collecting several styles of cardinals. She will always be remembered as an excellent cook, but most importantly as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She treasured her family and enjoyed all the time she was able to spend with them.

Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of almost 55 years, Phillip of Fox Lake; her children, Patricia ( Sheldon Kieliszewski) Walker of Randolph, Debra (Dan) Hencke of Fond du Lac, Dean (Vicki) Lerum of Fox Lake, Jean (Rick) Wagner of Waupun, Mary Jo (Rick Lemanski) Lerum of Fond du Lac and Cheryl (John) Kotek of Beaver Dam; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Rolland (Dorma) Hebel of Montana, Donna Mae (Bob) Mountford of Poynette, Theodore (Carrie) Hebel Jr. of Poynette, Linda Lou (Jim) Wolters of Montana, Le Roy (Helen) Hebel of Marshall and a sister-in-law, Margaret Hebel of Poynette. She is further survived by a sister-in-law; Ruth Ann (Bob) Leistikiow of Monroe, brother-in-laws; Dennis (Darlene) Lerum of Rio and Darryl (Carol) Leistiko of Monroe and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Donavan Hebel and her father and mother-in-law.

A Funeral Service for Mary Ann will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd in Beaver Dam at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Vivian Meier officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Fox Lake and a luncheon will take place following the burial at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fox Lake.
