Mary Joanne Stringfield, age 90, of Beaver Dam, passed peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Edenbrook in Fond du Lac.
Mary was born on October 19, 1935, in Zion, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel and Edna (Heath) Robinson. When her father died suddenly while she was still an infant, her mother was left to raise three young daughters alone. Shortly afterward, the family moved to Napa, California, where Mary’s mother worked full‑time as a seamstress at the Levi factory. Mary often reflected on how her mother provided a loving Christian home despite hardship. As a teenager, Mary worked at a local bakery — a place that became special in her life. Keith Stringfield, the young man who would soon win her heart, visited often. He loved to tell others how “sweet the donuts were,” a playful nod to the many trips he made there as their courtship quietly grew. They were united in marriage on December 27, 1953, and shared more than 65 devoted years together.
Mary was deeply thankful for the faith Keith embraced early in their marriage. Their shared walk with Christ became the foundation of their home, their decisions, and the peace they carried through life. Keith and Mary raised four children while living and working on farms in Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. They treasured the friendships and memories gathered along the way. After their children were grown, they settled in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, where they managed several apartment buildings until retirement. They remained in their Beaver Dam home until Keith’s passing in 2019. Mary had a gentle, joyful nature. She loved children deeply; nearly every time she prayed aloud, she prayed for the youth. Even in her final years, while living with dementia, her face would brighten with a big smile whenever she saw a child.
Mary is survived by her children: Chester (Ginny) of Clarion, IA; Gordon (Rita) of Yuba City, CA; Barb (Enos) of Fond du Lac, WI; and Marvin (Sherri) of Cambria, WI; along with 12 grandchildren, 24 great‑grandchildren, sisters‑in‑law Beth (Stringfield) Reeves of Norfolk, NE, and Carolyn Stringfield of Madison, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith; her two sisters, June and Ruth, and other beloved relatives.
