Megan A. Nighbor

Our beautiful Megan, age 26, born June 1, 2000 at 8:01 am, went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 12th, 2026 at 5:39pm, surrounded by her family. We know she’s up in Heaven, pain and worry free, riding her horse Pitzer. In her 26 years, Megan has gone through and accomplished more things than most people would have ever dreamed of. She may not have been given the strongest horse or smoothest trail, but she sure knew how to turn a rough ride into a beautiful journey. 

Megan impacted every person she met and was an inspiration to all who met her. We are all so blessed to have so many memories with our sweet, sassy little girl. Anyone who knows Megan knows she loved hard, fought hard, was stubborn and hard headed. She was a devoted Christian, baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. Her faith in God never wavered.

Megan had numerous hobbies, some of which included hunting, fishing, crafting, horse riding, horse pulls, driving the horses, and being a big foodie. She was never seen without a Mt. Dew. She loved to dabble in lottery tickets, specifically the crossword ones. She would get a pedicure any chance she could. She also loved singing to all music, including Christian Rock, and sharing her beautiful voice. Throughout her hunting career, she had an almost perfect record, shooting 15 deer with 16 shots with her 22-250 from her brother Josh. She loved riding in the tractor with her dad. Her mom was honored and privileged to be her personal chef and chauffeur. Megan and her sister Michaela would talk everyday, always looking forward to their next sissy date. Megan never forgot a holiday or birthday, especially for her niece Adilyn and cousins. She gave her all to everything and everyone. Megan loved spending time with her friends and family, never forgetting to say, “I love you”.

Megan had special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that always made time for her. Whether it was a phone call/text, lunch date, coffee date, shopping date, or anywhere you were willing to go. Her calendar was never empty. She never missed anything for anyone if she could help it. Even if not feeling the best, she’d be there. 

Megan knew she was given a limited amount of time here on earth, but that never scared her. If anything, it motivated her to do all she could in the time she was given. She was always so organized and prepared, leaving her family a message behind on her phone titled, “Just in Case”. A few quotes her family would like to share from the note - “Please don’t be mad at God. But please let him bring you peace, and know I’m okay.” “I am blessed, so blessed!” “Also, please bury a saddle of mine with me. I have a four legged buddy waiting for me at the gate!” 

Megan - you’ve left a hole in our hearts that will never be replaced. We knew we would never be ready, but you have blessed us with more than we could have ever imagined. And from Adilyn - I love you Aunt Mae Mae

Megan is survived by her parents Steve and Sandy Nighbor; siblings: Josh (Laura) and Michaela (Andrew); niece, Adilyn Megan; grandmother, Mary Kohn; her fur babies Flicka, Beau, and Lacy Mae; and further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lawrence (Alice) Nighbor, and Eldon Kohn; uncles, Larry Nighbor and Craig Giese, Sr.; fur babies, Pitzer, Star, Summer, Daisy Sue, Kota, Pebbles, and Yeti; and other relatives.

Visitation for Megan will take place on Thursday August 20, 2026, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, W3377 Main St, Manchester from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Visitation for Megan will also take place on Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, W3377 Main St, Manchester, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Drake officiating. A luncheon will directly follow the service at the Manchester Activity Center. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.
