Merlyn A. Schueler, 85, of Waupun, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Christian Home in Waupun.
Merlyn was born November 3, 1938 in Marquette, WI to Albert and Dorothy Mildebrant Schueler. Merlyn graduated from Markesan High School in 1956. Soon after joining the U.S. Army he was stationed in Korea after the war. Upon his return he married the love of his life, Carol Manweiler on November 12, 1960 in Princeton. The couple moved to the Waupun area where Merlyn got a job at Fox Lake Correctional where he was Correctional Sergeant for 28 years until retirement. After retirement, he worked at Alto Dairy doing a lot of odd and end jobs. Merlyn was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun. He loved to collect light houses, play cards, paint by number, do woodworking, and fish. He also loved to socialize, play euchre, and travel. Merlyn had a huge garden and sold produce. His entire family helped out with it, working outdoors. He loved spending a lot of time with his family and camping was what he truly loved.
Merlyn is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol; his children: Ronald (Shirley) Schueler, Steven (Renee) Schueler, and Vicky (Leonard) Lienke; 6 grandchildren: Emily (Darell) Williams, James Schueler (special friend, Emily) and Joseph Schueler, Jillian (Jeremy) Olson, Laura Schmied (special friend, John), and Randall Lienke; four great-grandchildren with one great-grandchild on the way: Ava, Hunter, Ayden, and Vivian; a sister, Ardis Sabel; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; in-laws: Barbara (Philip) Carpenter, David Schackow, Roy (Jan) Manweiler, and Faye Baggett; and nieces and nephews.
Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Wilbert (Lorna), Edward (Bernice), and Leland (Verona) Schueler; a sister, Elaine (Walter) Seeliger; and brother-in-law, Harold Sabel.
Funeral services for Merlyn Schueler will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun with Pastor Jeff Nicla officiating. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Tuesday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 5-7 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
