Michael E. Winarski, age 78 of Beaver Dam, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.

A memorial gathering for Michael will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial gathering at 11:00 a.m. Military honors will be provided at Cornerstone immediately following the service.

Michael was born on August 11, 1939 in Taylor, Michigan, son of Edward and Julia Winarski. He was united in marriage to Monika Metler and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his two tours, Michael and Monika lived in California for 46 years where he worked for the California Highway Patrol for 25 years. Michael was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. His hobbies included hunting and deep sea fishing.

Michael is survived by his wife, Monika of Beaver Dam; children, Renee (Daniel) Griswold of Juneau and Tyson (Tanya) Winarski of Rockland, CA; grandchildren, Taylor Winarski, Joshua Griswold and James Griswold; step-grandson, Nathan Braaksma; sister, Kathy (Donald) Bernath of Michigan; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and other relatives.
