Michael Hoban

Michael Hoban, age 69, of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, passed away on August 27, 2026.

Michael was born on December 8, 1956, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, to Edward and Mary Hoban. The youngest of seven children, he was affectionately known as the “baby of the family.” He grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Dodgeland High School before proudly becoming a United States Marine.

As a young man, Mike had an adventurous spirit that took him to several states, including Wyoming, Arizona, and California, before eventually returning home to Wisconsin.

Mike was an exceptionally hard worker throughout his life. He recently retired after a long career as a cross-country truck driver, logging more than one million miles on the road. When he wasn’t driving a truck, Mike could often be found behind the handlebars of his motorcycle. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he had a particular affinity for Harley-Davidsons and loved spending hours on his bike, enjoying the freedom of the open road. He also had a lifelong interest in cars and especially enjoyed buying and selling them.

Those who knew Mike will remember his unmistakable personality. Fiercely independent with a rebel spirit, Mike preferred to do things his own way and lived life on his own terms. He loved music, a cold beer with friends, and treating his family to lunch. A lifelong animal lover, he especially loved and spoiled his cats in his later years. In true Mike fashion, he treated them like little tigers, encouraging them to embrace their wild side just as much as he enjoyed having them curled up on his lap.

Michael is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Nicholas, Sally, and David; his grandson, Abel; and his sisters, Peggy and Claudia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Craig and Katherine Hoban, with whom he shared an especially close relationship, as well as his lifelong best friend, Tim Dornfeld, and Tim’s wife, Mary.

Michael will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his big heart, adventurous spirit, love of the open road, and the many miles and memories he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. 

In honoring Michael's wishes, private family services will be held.
