Mildred C. Eilbes, age 87, of Beaver Dam, went to be with her beloved "R.J." in their heavenly home on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Charleston House Memory Care in Beaver Dam, after a courageous battle with dementia and Alzheimer's.
Mildred was born on July 21, 1924 in Beaver Dam. As a child, she was active in 4H preserving food and sewing, and earned many blue ribbons locally and at the state level. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1942 and was united in marriage to Robert J. Eilbes on July 10, 1943 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. She worked at Weyenberg Shoe Factory, where she sewed parts for military boots during World War II. Mildred later worked for J.K. Fabrics in Beaver Dam, and also used her culinary expertise working in food service at Trenton Elementary School. She also enjoyed working on the family farm, gardening and tending to her flowers. During retirement, she did a lot of fishing, dancing, gardening, sewing and playing cards.
Mildred is survived by her three sons, Robert M. (Betty) Eilbes, Thomas A. (Phyllis) Eilbes, and Michael J. (Sue) Eilbes, all of Beaver Dam, her grandchildren, Carolyn (Josh) Huenink, Timothy (Pam) Eilbes, Scott Eilbes, Michelle Eilbes, Sara (Chris) Simon, and Kevin Eilbes, and four great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Flora, her husband, Robert "R.J." in February of 2011 and other relatives.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred will be on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St, Beaver Dam with Father Mike Erwin as celebrant. Visitation will take place on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd, Beaver Dam and also on Tuesday at the church prior to Mass, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Mildred will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert, at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Beaver Dam and a luncheon will follow back at Cornerstone.
