Nancy Phelps, 75, of Fox Lake, was called home to Heaven Sunday, January 26, 2025 after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial gathering for Nancy will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Fox Lake from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Bryan Prell officiating. Inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Food will be available from 10:00 - 11:45 a.m. There will not be a meal following the service, per the family's wishes.
Nancy was born September 6, 1949, in Beaver Dam to LeRoy and Ruth (nee Niehoff) Schindel. She was raised in Horicon, graduating from Horicon High School in 1967. On May 20, 1972, she was united in marriage to William (Bill) Phelps. Together they raised a family and farmed outside of Fox Lake for more than 40 years. Over the years Nancy supported her family with a variety of office and manufacturing roles in the area. Additionally, she served many years in elected positions in the Town of Trenton; and was able to fully retire in 2014. Nancy served her Lord by volunteering her services in many ways at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fox Lake, she especially cherished volunteering her time with the students of St. John's Lutheran School. Amongst her hobbies were gardening and sewing, but her greatest legacy will be her dedication and devotion to her family, especially the joy that her grandchildren gave her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bill, and their four sons: Dan (Katie), Dustin (April), Jesse (Kelly) and Chris (Valerie); 11 grandchildren: Kincade, Abigale, Julisa, Allegra, Aaron, Elena, Sawyer, Haley, Levi, Mia and Lilah; her sister Linda Cook; sister-in-law, Linda Golembiewski; brothers-in-law Wayne (Jean) Metzdorf, Mike (Teri) Bahn, Andy (Mei) Phelps and Tom (Susan) Phelps as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; sister, Suzanne Metzdorf; brother, Fred Schindel; sister-in-law, Betty Bahn; brothers-in-law, Don Bischoff, Gordy Cook, Erv Golembieski; and a nephew.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hillside Hospice for their assistance, and Pastor Prell for his visits.
