Neil R. Hinterberg

Neil Hinterberg passed away on May 1, 2026 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. 

Neil was born to John and Erma (Woolson) Hinterberg on August 24, 1954 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and grew up in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.

Neil worked at Royle Printing in Sun Prairie and lived in the area for 40 years. He enjoyed many things in life, such as music, photography, nature, sports, travel, museums, classic cars, and home improvement projects. Neil truly loved to lend a helping hand to anyone. Later in life he became a devoted dog dad to Coco, his buddy, going on long walks and drives together every day. His sense of humor and kindness will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Melay (Vertudez) Hinterberg, to whom he was happily married for 20 years, daughter Katherine Schmitt, grandsons Shaun and Henry Schmitt, sisters Diane Gaudynski and Mary (Ross) Schmidt, brothers James and “Jack” (Kris) Hinterberg, brother-in-law Eric Henderson, and several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by parents John and Erma, brother Gerald, sister Helen, brother-in-law Alan Gaudynski, and previous spouse Diane Hinterberg.

A memorial gathering for Neil will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services in Beaver Dam from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 p.m.
