Neil Richard Foye, II, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Markesan, WI, on January 15, 2014. He was 49 years old. Neil, affectionately known as Skuggers or Skuggs, was born in Madison, WI, on October 26, 1964.
Neil actively served his country as a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Division of the Army, enlisting while still in high school He spoke openly about being air dropped into Grenada and Panama during those skirmishes. Serving his country was important to him, as he wore his uniform when the event called for it.
After leaving the military, Neil apprenticed with his father, Neil R. Foye, as a carpenter and home remodeler. He later worked for the State of Wisconsin and as the Building and Grounds Superintendent for a local school district. He was passionate about fishing, camping, and hunting, as well as having loved downhill skiing as a young man. He will be fondly remembered as being a loving brother and man.
Neil is survived by his wife Kathy; two children, one of whom is Trooper Neil (Lisa) Maffet; one granddaughter, Hannah; five siblings, Michael (Bente) Bender, Connie Foye (Alan) Jonett, Kari Mueller, Terry Foye Miller, and Kimmi Jiru; Uncles Dale (Peggy) Foye and Daniel Foye; seven nephews and five nieces; and many cousins.
He was predeceased in death by parents Neil and Patsy Foye and Aunts Nancy and Betty Foye.
A private service will be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Neil's name to the National Rifle Association at www.nra.org (donate or contribution) or The Wounded Warriors at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
