Norma Smith

Norma A. Smith, 90, of Waupun, died peacefully at home on Monday, January 14, 2019 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Norma was born September 14, 1928 in the town of Greenwood, to Albert and Mary (Jindrick) Novy. On September 6, 1950 she married Merrill W. Smith at First Congregational Church in Hillsboro. They moved to Waupun in 1952 where they resided until her passing.

Survivors include her husband of 68 wonderful years, Merrill; her three sons: Steven (Nancy) Smith of Murrysville, PA, Richard (Lori) Smith of Waupun, and Thomas (Paula) Smith of Menasha; her brother, Arnold Novy of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Ernest and Arthur Novy; an infant sister, Anna Novy; and her grandson, Scott Smith.



Friends and relatives may call on the family on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.


A funeral service will be conducted at the Union-Congregational Church in Waupun on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert G. Sherwood officiating.



Interment will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. There will be a fellowship luncheon at the church following interment at the cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Union-Congregational Church in Waupun would be appreciated.
