Norman E. Dean, 97, of Oshkosh, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his residence.
Norman was born November 21, 1915 in Green Lake County the son of Henry and Myrtle Hare Dean. On June 4, 1949 he married Audrey Rusch in Rosendale. Following their marriage the couple farmed in the Town of Springvale and in 1956 they moved to the Pickett area where they continued farming. While farming, Norman also drove truck for Bluemke’s of Rosendale and later Rogersville Cheese Factory from which he retired in 1980. Norman was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the European Theatre as a medic during World War II. Norman was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6709 in Waupun. In October of 2011 Norman had the opportunity to take the Ole Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
Norman is survived by his wife, Audrey Dean of Oshkosh; two daughters, Karen (Randy) Sagmeister of Oshkosh, and Betty Dean of Oshkosh; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Michelle) Sagmeister, Joe Sagmeister (and special friend Jamie Recore), and Joshua Dean; five great-grandchildren, Evan Sagmeister, Alyssa Sagmeister, Mason Sagmeister, Blake Sagmeister, and Brynlee Sagmeister; a sister, Evelyn (Norm) Tabbert of Fond du Lac; along with nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence Dean, David Dean, and Raymond Dean; and two sisters, Bernice Wellens and Hannah Mulholland.
Visitation:
Relatives and friends of Norman Dean may call on the family on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Norman Dean will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale with Rev. Charles Thompson officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Liberty Prairie Cemetery in Pickett. American Legion Post 210 of Waupun along with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6709 will provide military honors at the cemetery.
