Paul Gilbert King, 82, formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away quietly in his sleep on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, in Fall River, Wisconsin, after a long illness.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Fall River United Methodist Church, 138 South St, Fall River, Wis., at 12:00 p.m. (noon), with the Rev. Kimberly Brumm officiating. Visitation begins prior to the service at 10:00. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the church.
Paul was born on April 23, 1937, in Coloma, Wis., the only son of Gilbert and Dorothy King. In his early life, he lived in many places, including Coloma, Wisconsin Rapids, Duluth, Menomonie, Pewaukee, Wautoma, and Union City, Tenn. Paul graduated from High School in Westfield, Wis. in 1955.
Paul worked at the Texaco station and hardware store in Coloma for 50 cents an hour. He then moved to Juneau, Wisconsin, and met Karen Lohr at a tobogganing party. They were united in marriage on July 11, 1959, at Juneau EUB (now United Methodist) Church. They moved to Milwaukee, where Paul worked at American Motors and Square D. In Milwaukee, Paul and Karen started raising a family.
After living in Sterling, Colorado for a short time, they moved to Beaver Dam in 1967, where they lived out their lives. Paul worked for 27 years at Bancroft Dairy in Madison, until retirement in 2000. Paul was active in the churches he attended (Zion and Trinity United Methodist Churches in Beaver Dam, and Fall River United Methodist Church), was active at the Beaver Dam Senior Center, enjoyed woodworking, and playing with his grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his three children: Jeff (Didi) King of Oregon, Wis., Michael (Ann Marie) King of Sheboygan, and Lisa (Ted Bendler) King of Fall River; five grandchildren, Peter Bendler of Pensacola, Fla., Solomon Bendler of Biloxi, Miss., Cassandra and Jackson King of Oregon, Wis., and Sydney King of Juneau, Alaska; and special friends Roxie and Jerry Lehmann.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents in 1987 and 2014; wife Karen in 2010, and special friend Shirley Rabbit in 2018.

The family would like to thank The Meadows of Fall River and Generations Home Care and Hospice for providing loving care at the end of Paul's life.
