Obituary

Ray "Bud" Gensch of Beaver Dam died peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Hillside Manor, surrounded by his family and some AMAZING country music.

Ray was born August 31, 1941 to Raymond and Betty (nee Farr) Gensch of Lowell, Wisconsin. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1959 and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard, serving at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962-63. In September 1965, he married Clarice Naffin of Burnett, Wisconsin. Ray worked his entire career at John Deere Horicon Works, retiring in September 1994. He was endlessly devoted to his job and family and spent the remainder of his retirement in Beaver Dam. Despite living in the city most of his adult life, Ray enjoyed long drives on country roads - the scenery, the fresh air, the sprawling farm vistas and every animal in nature.

Ray is survived by his son, Scott, and lovely granddaughter, Helen Margaret, Eau Claire; his son, Shawn (Scott Steen), Minneapolis, MN; sisters Carol (Joel) Bradtke, Madison and Andrea (William) Lindert, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, and other family and friends, including his former wife and forever friend, Claire Gensch, Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Betty Gensch.

A Memorial Service for Ray will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam with Rev. Philip Heyer officiating. A Memorial Gathering will be held prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be served at Cornerstone. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Lowell Cemetery in Lowell, WI.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to benefit the Beaver Dam Waterworks Park Project whose mission statement sums up Ray so perfectly: "We believe all children have unique abilities and should be provided an equal opportunity to enjoy Beaver Dam playgrounds with one another." Trixie, one of Ray's caregivers shared, from the first time she met him, she felt "the energy, playfulness and joy of a child". Donations can be sent to Raymond Gensch Memorial Fund, c/o Waterworks Park Project, PO Box 241, Beaver Dam, WI 53916 or via PayPal at www. BeaverDamWaterworksParkProject.org.
