Raymond Chavez Sr., age 85 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Raymond was born on February 26, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan to Victorio and Lucile (nee Morales) Chavez. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II in the South Pacific 3rd Fleet. Raymond was united in marriage to Rachel Linarez on December 11, 1946 in Randolph. He worked at Rockwell in Randolph, MetalFab and after retirement at Northern Hatchery in Beaver Dam. Raymond enjoyed motorcycles and cars and was a member of V.F.W. Post 6709 in Waupun.

Raymond is survived by his children, Frances (Tony) Lucero of Beaver Dam, Paul (Sigi) Chavez of Fall River, Phyllis Czarneski of Beaver Dam, Tony (Dan Neumann) Chavez of Sheboygan, William (Linda) Chavez of West Bend; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter and 1 great-great grandson, Carter Lee Rohlinger Hardin. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rachel Chavez; his son Raymond Chavez Jr.; his daughter Lucille Gonzalez; grandson, Manuel Arthur Robert Lucero; great-grandson, Zachary Chavez; his sister, Victoria Flores and two half-brothers, Domingo and John Chavez.

A Funeral Service for Raymond will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. Visitation will take place prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the Township of Trenton with graveside military honors.
