Obituary

Raymond L. Broder, age 82 of Rib Lake and formerly of Markesan, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.

A memorial gathering for Raymond will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Raymond was born on December 18, 1935, the son of Michael and Sophia (Bartol) Broder, and was raised in Brandon. From 1955-57, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He owned and operated Ray Broder Excavating from 1964-1979. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed bear hunting, deer hunting and musky fishing on Little Green Lake. Retirement led him to his home on Little Spirit Lake near Ogema, WI, where he loved watching wildlife and dozens of hummingbirds. His other hobbies included buying and selling antiques and playing cards.

Raymond is survived by his three sons, Mark (Lisa) Broder of Markesan, Lance (Teri) Broder of Utah and Todd Broder of Bruce, WI; five grandchildren, Jared (Tiffany) Broder, Nathan Broder, Jillian (Derek) Chitwood, Stephanie (Jeff) Umberger and Brittany (Mark) DeBoer; five great-grandchildren, Megan (Chris) Clark, Hannah Kwiesielewicz, Ava Broder, Sloan Umberger and Ames Umberger; four brothers, Robert, James, Daniel and Tom; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David.
