Rick (Richard A.) Dykstra, age 64 of Dalton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 21, 2020. The end of his life happened while he was doing one of his favorite things – deer hunting.

Visitation for Rick will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Kingston Cemetery. The family requests those in attendance to wear masks and observe social distancing.

The son of Richard "Dick" and Darlene (Walker) Dykstra, Rick was born on May 29, 1956 at the Ripon Hospital. He graduated from Markesan High School in 1974. Rick was married to his first wife in 1973 and together they had one daughter, Kristina (Dykstra) Griffin in 1976.

Rick was a hard worker at PMI for several years. Then he worked at Waupun Correctional Facility and long term, many double shift days, at Portage Correctional Facility before retiring at age 55. He enjoyed retirement by fishing, hunting, shooting pool, golfing and meeting up with friends. He was a lifelong enthusiastic Packer fan! He also spent a lot of time playing cribbage with his mother.

Rick is survived by his longtime companion, Debra King of Fond du Lac and her son, Travis King of Berlin; father, Richard "Dick" Dykstra of Dalton; sister, Sheri (Lee) Chaon of Oshkosh; brother, Randy (Pam) Dykstra of Dalton; grandchildren, Kassidy (Aaron) Miller, Colin LaCoste, Justin, Austin, Tiffani, Connor King and Merrick Frei; aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene; sister, Sharlene; daughter, Kristina Griffin; grandparents, Harold and Edith Walker, Jense and Nellie Dykstra; uncles and aunts.

Rick will be greatly missed by family and friends.
