Richard "Dick" E. Marthaler, age 67 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Dick was born on February 23, 1943 in Beaver Dam to Fred and Myrtle (nee Weeks) Marthaler. After graduating from Beaver Dam High School, he worked at Speed Queen before joining his father in the family business, Marthaler Painting, where he was a painter for over 30 years. Dick was married to Arlene Radant for more than 20 years. Dick scoped out many area rummage sales, always looking to find the best bargains. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and testing his luck at the casino. Dick was a big football fan, always rooting for the Badgers and Packers. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his children, Richard (Cindy) Marthaler, Jr. of Baraboo and Debbie (Jeff) Thompson of Beaver Dam; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Chad and Cody Marthaler, Alex and Ally "Little Princess" Thompson; his brother, Dale (Judy) Marthaler of Beaver Dam; and his former wife, Arlene Marthaler of Beaver Dam. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter in infancy, Cheryl and two siblings.
A Funeral Service for Dick will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd, Beaver Dam with Rev. Phil Linden officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, Town of Trenton.
