Richard L. Kasprzak

Mar 14, 1936 — Nov 1, 2026

Richard Leon Kasprzak, age 90, of Fox Lake, entered eternal life on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

Richard (Dick) was born on March 14, 1936, in Cheboygan, Michigan, the son of John Edward and Myrtle May (Elliott) Kasprzak. He graduated from Niles High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after graduation. Dick proudly served his country for 22 years, with assignments in Japan, Germany, and Vietnam where he enjoyed spending time at "Ye Olde Minigun Shop". He also had numerous temporary duty assignments. One of his favorite duty stations was Edwards Air Force Base in California, where he was involved in testing and evaluating aircraft armament systems, particularly the F-15 Eagle and A-10A "Warthog." Richard retired from the Air Force in 1976 as a Master Sergeant.

Following his military retirement, he began his second career in electronics, working at Amtelco in Monona, Wisconsin, where he oversaw the Final Assembly and Test department. It was there that he met his wife, Nyoka Smith. The couple married on May 21, 1983, in Arena, Wisconsin.

Following his retirement from Amtelco in 2006, Dick served as the volunteer campground host at Camp Phillip in Wautoma, Wisconsin, a position he enjoyed for 17 years.

Dick loved camping, serving others, and collecting and polishing rocks. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed Notre Dame football, the Green Bay Packers, and the Wisconsin Badgers. He was also a proud member of the VFW in Fox Lake.

Dick is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nyoka; six children, Wendy (Rick) Gastineau, John (Debra) Kasprzak, Caroline (Bob) Childers, Inge Kasprzak, Elliott (Karen) Kasprzak, and Emily (Thomas) Reitz; daughter-in-law, Trudy Kasprzak; ten grandchildren, Trisha (Jerome) Ingram, Trevor (Beth) Kasprzak, Lucas (Anita Kashyap) Boehm, Nicholas (Taylor Borman) Boehm, Jake (Brieanna) Kasprzak, Madelyn (Josh Smith) Kasprzak, Ashley Kasprzak, Tim (Alexas) Ashmore, Stacey (Keegan) Petsel, Reese Kasprzak, and another granddaughter on the way; nine great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Finley, Grace, Mila, Hanna, Liam, Sawyer, Gianna, and Violet, with two more "greats" on the way; a sister, Fern (Paul) Hencey; two brothers, Bill (Denise) Kasprzak and Tom (Raven) Kasprzak; and many nieces and nephews.
