Richard Lee Klomsten, age 88, of Fox Lake, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025.

Born on April 11, 1937, to the late Clarence and Sylvia (Berge) Klomsten, Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and public servant. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen (Rennhack) Klomsten, whom he married on September 5, 1959.

Together, Richard and Karen built a loving family. He is survived by his children: Steve (Gloria), Keith, Shari (Donald) VanderGalien, and Patricia (Douglas) Ninmann. He was preceded in death by his son Karl.

Richard was a proud grandfather to Ben, Stephanie (Del), Jason, Zackary, Jennifer, Kaprice (Josh), Kelsey (Dustin), Brittany (Charles), John (Brittany), Brett, Jacob, and Kyle (Ellen). He was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren—Gavin, Scarlett, Seven, Carly, Georgia, Hailey, Alexa, Chloe, Kimber, Jaxon, Jace, Kaysen, Brooklynn, Dominic, Granger, Lainey; great-great-grandson, Ethan, and was awaiting the arrival of another great-granddaughter in August.

He retired from John Deere after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Never one to sit idle, Richard devoted much of his retirement to public service. He served as an alderman for the City of Fox Lake and was a member of the village boards for both Lowell and Reeseville. In a testament to his deep community ties and trusted leadership, Richard won a mayoral election as a write-in candidate when he had originally planned to retire. His service to the people of Fox Lake was marked by honesty, integrity, and a passion for community betterment.

Richard will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his wry sense of humor, his steadfast dedication to family, and his unwavering commitment to his community.
