Richard "Dick" LaVerne Prechel, Sr., age 79 of Beaver Dam, passed away at home on Saturday, April 27, 2024

A memorial gathering for Dick will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam, from 4:30 p.m. until the Time of Remembrance at 6:00 p.m.

Dick was born in Dubuque, Iowa on January 27, 1945, the son of Raymond and Mayme (Olson) Prechel. On September 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to his wife, Frances VanBever. He was a painter at Metalcraft for many years, before retiring to take care of Fran. He loved his family and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. Dick also enjoyed watching horror movies, working outside on his gardens, traveling (especially to Las Vegas), and eating. Model planes and tanks were another one of his passions.

Dick is survived by his children, Laura (Joe) Dunham of Beaver Dam, Richard Prechel, Jr., of Beaver Dam, Brian Prechel of Beaver Dam, and Stephanie (Joe Bantz) Prechel of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Britni (Tony), Colton, Chance, Logan, Damien, Malechi, Lycan, Bramuel, and Westyn; great-grandchildren, Parker, Darwin, and Prairie; brothers, William (Sue) Prechel and Michael Prechel; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fran; parents; granddaughter, Allysha Dunham; brother, Raymond Prechel; and other relatives.
