Richard “Dick” Ritzema, 88, of Waupun, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center in Waupun.



Dick was born October 6, 1927 in the Netherlands the son of Freerk and Grietje Rozema Ritzema. On April 16, 1948 Dick married Edith Knott in the Netherlands. The couple moved to Fulton, IL and then to Waupun in the mid 1960’s where Dick and Wes Dykstra owned R&D Construction from which Dick retired. Dick was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun where he served as deacon and elder. He was an avid fisherman and found great joy being on the water. Dick was a real “people person” and enjoyed conversations with everyone he met.

Dick is survived by their children: Klaaske “Clara” (Ted) Mensonides of Modesto, CA, Margaret (Bill) Bergen of Waupun, Patricia “Pat” (Mark) Uttech of Watertown, Frederick “Fred” (Vicki) Ritzema of Waupun, and Martinus “Marty” (Laura) Ritzema of Modesto, CA, Loretta “Lori” (Jeff) Riel of Waupun, and Richard “Rich” (Debbi) Ritzema of Waupun; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, in 2013.




Visitation:


Friends and relatives may call on the family on Thursday at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 5-7 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.



Services:


Funeral services for Dick Ritzema will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Jeff Brower officiating.



Burial:


Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
