Richard “Rich” Van Buren, age 55, of Waupun, passed away on July 2, 2025 due to complications during surgery with his family by his side.
Rich was born August 15, 1969, the son of Wilbur and Elayne (Vossekuil) Van Buren. Rich’s early years were rooted in his education at Waupun High School, from which he graduated in 1987. Following high school, he embraced the family's farming legacy, dedicating himself to agricultural life. He took immense pride in his work and was particularly passionate about the family farm. Rich and his wife, Wanda Henken, whom he married on March 21, 1998, made their home on the farm. Throughout the years, they became instrumental in managing the farm, purchasing the property fully around 2013.
In addition to his farming pursuits, Rich was deeply involved in various community organizations. He was a member of the Waupun Drift Jumpers, taking on various roles during his time with the group. He also actively participated in the Waupun Area FFA Alumni and was a member of the First Reformed Church in Waupun. Rich's passion for farming extended to his hobbies, which included snowmobiling, UTV riding, and attending tractor pulls. He also loved his Ford tractors. He was known for always being willing to lend a helping hand. Rich cherished spending time with his family, always finding joy in their shared experiences on the farm.
As Rich would say, “It’s never goodbye but “See you later”.
Rich leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Wanda; his children, Tiffany Van Buren and Alex “AJ” (significant other, Heidi); and his beloved granddaughter, Allison Van Buren. He is also survived by his parents, Wilbur and Elayne Van Buren; his siblings, Gary (Lori) Van Buren and Greg (Kelley) Van Buren; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harlan (Viola) Henken; and many other relatives and friends.
Rich was preceded in death by his grandparents.
