Robert "Bob" E. Gossfeld, age 77 of Beaver Dam, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 6, 2009.

Bob was born on May 15, 1931 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Arnold and Agnes (nee Parzy) Gossfeld. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1950, where he enjoyed playing football. On August 12, 1950 he married Kay Ehlenfeldt at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Bob owned and operated several businesses throughout his life, including Gossfeld Oil Company, Skyway Bar, Club 33, and Beaver Companies "since '76". He was also an original part-owner of Sunset Hills Country Club. He referred to himself as the "Godfather" as he always kept a watchful eye on his family and employees, making sure everyone was getting the job done right. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, training Chesapeake hunting dogs, spending time with his family, and going on gambling trips. Bob also loved Corvettes. He always looked forward to "Packer Sundays" and the annual "Fourth of July Gozz Fest". Bob was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam.

Bob is survived by his children, Joan Cooper of Beaver Dam, Mike (Audrey) Gossfeld of Beaver Dam, and Jill (Terry) Adams of Waupun; his grandchildren, Shelly (Todd) Ascherien, Amy (fiancé Kevin Shaver) Muenchow, Laura Cooper, Brian (Jessica) Cooper, Mitchel Gossfeld, Tanner Adams, Trevor Adams, and Mike Nutt; his great-grandchildren, Brady Eugene Ascherien, Austin Thomas Shaver, and Aiden Cooper; and his brother and sister-in-laws, Bob (Alice) Ehlenfeldt and Carol Braemer of Beaver Dam, and Chuck (Toody) Ehlenfeldt of Burnett. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Kay in 1997; his mother and father-in-law; his son Bobby in 1968; his son-in-law Tom Cooper in 2006; two brother-in-laws, LeRoy Braemer and Vernon "Bud" Ehlenfeldt; and his grandson, Jason Muenchow.

A Funeral Service for Bob will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 12:00 NOON at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam with Fr. Jose Gonzalez officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at noon. A funeral luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam at a later date. Memorials may be directed to CaringBridge, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or the March of Dimes.
